Vegetarian is not only good for the body but also the environment. UN report calls for major world population need to change your eating habits and switch to a vegetarian meat to tackle climate change issues.
International group of scientists say the biggest cause of greenhouse gas emissions is food production and use of fossil fuels. Scientists say, the use of coal and petroleum can gradually replaced by renewable energy sources such as wind and solar. But the population of the world will always need to eat.

As the world population continues to increase, it is feared that food production will be the main cause of climate change and environmental degradation. International Panel of Sustainable Resource Management (IPSRM) showed livestock production accounts for 70 percent of global water pollution, 30 percent of land use and 19 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. The report will be presented to governments around the world.
Being a vegetarian is the only way to feed the world population while reducing climate change. Decrease significant impact is likely to occur with changes in diet and eating patterns is also significant in the whole world.
"People can help fight climate change by eating less meat", said Achim Steiner, Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme, as reported by the Telegraph, Friday (4/6/2010).
Steiner said that IPSRM has reviewed all the available scientific data and concluded that the two main areas that currently have a disproportionately high impact on the planet's life support systems is energy in the form of fossil fuels and agriculture, especially the improvement of livestock for meat and dairy products.
He also recommended that the government can encourage people to eat less meat by changing the tax system and provide subsidies vegetarian food became cheaper. Lord Stern of Brentford, author of the Stern Review states economically action to combat climate change is believed to be done by eating less meat.
He also expects the price of meat and food 'carbon intensive' more must be raised so that people switch to a vegetarian and can save the earth.
