Still remember the men of liquid metal Terminator movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger movie star? Did you know that the liquid metal as it turns out there in this world? Gallium metal is and has some amazing properties.
What makes it so special gallium? First brittle metal has a melting point of only 29.76 ° C (85.57 ° F), so if you hold it in your hands long enough, it will be a liquid metal. Pretty cool is not it? There is also the nature of this metal is very cool. Gallium is able to invade other metals such as aluminum example. Only a drop of liquid gallium is able to weaken the structure of the Coke can to a certain melting point of aluminum and gallium can penetrate with little pressure.

In the other experiment, while gallium soaked in a solution of sulfuric acid and dichromate, gallium looks like a heart beat, because gallium sulfate that increases surface tension. Therefore, gallium is also dubbed as the "heart beat".
The presence of gallium was estimated by Dmitri Mendeleev, inventor of the Periodic Table of Elements, in 1871. Although yet to be discovered, the Russian chemist has accurately predicted several major properties, such as density and low melting point.
But the new Gallium was discovered by French chemist Paul Emile Lecoq de Boisbaudran who discovered a rare element in 1875, while checking the sample sphalerite. Since then, Gallium is used in high temperature thermometric applications and in preparation of alloys with special properties of stability and ease of liquefaction. Today, gallium is mainly used in the semiconductor industry, and can be found in many gadgets and appliances we use every day.
Free form gallium does not exist in nature, but it is extracted as a trace component in bauxite and for a fraction of the sphalerite. The United States Geological Survey estimates gallium reserves exceeded 1 million.
Though while this is not believed to be toxic Gallium metal, but some sources claim prolonged exposure can cause skin conditions such as dermatitis.
