Health officials in the United States found a new virus which is considered to be quite deadly, the virus Bourbon. No known victims died allegedly as a result of infection of the disease.
Although still under investigation, Bourbon virus from ticks is becoming one of the 'suspects' when a man in Kansas stretchable lives. The reason, according to the findings of health officials superpower it shows, the victim experienced symptoms similar to the disease from a tick bite, like a muscle that feels tired and fever.
The man who has not been named, in the summer of this year, has visited a doctor for a medical check. He had been treated but eventually died of multi-organ failure.
"Bourbon virus has emerged since some time ago but we do not have a diagnostic technique that can isolate the virus that has not been identified," said Dana Hawkinson, an infectious disease specialist at the University of Kansas Hospital, quoted from the Tech Times.
Currently officials from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) together with researchers from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are investigating the death of the man.
In the deepening of the cases, health officials were checking people close to the victim. It is feared, they will be infected and experiencing similar symptoms. CDC researchers were trying to understand the dissemination of the virus.
According to the CDC, the disease has infected ticks victims to reach 22.500 to 30.000 Americans each year.
While quoted from the Independent, the spread of the virus similar to Bourbon has been found in Eastern Europe, Africa, and Asia. However, the disease was not found in the western hemisphere.
In order Bourbon virus is not widespread, KDHE and CDC suggest some tips to the public from being exposed to the virus and avoid unwanted effects.
"Wear clothes with long sleeves and pants. Then wash or shower as soon as possible after knowing finding ticks crawling on your body," wrote KDHE on its website.
